About Me

Hello! My name is Alana Hayes. I’m originally from right outside of Memphis, TN. I’m currently looking for work preferably in the South or East Coast, but I am open to anywhere. I specialize in cinematography/videography, screenwriting/creative writing, social media & content creation, video editing, and graphic design.

From a young age, I was exposed to the fascinating world of visual media, and it wasn’t long before I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in the film industry. To me, films contain an element of magic - the ability to transport us to another time and place, to bring out emotions and alter perceptions.

I recently graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri in December 2023, where I earned a degree in film studies with an emphasis in production; minors in Digital Storytelling, Black Studies, Theater, and a received a Multicultural Certificate. I more recently obtained certificates in Social Media Marketing and Content Marketing.

I covered local stories as a producer and editor for MUTVE23, Mizzou’s official student run new station, and also worked on short films and documentaries for my production courses. I briefly worked for the Office of Advancement, where I wrote, produced, filmed, and edited videos for the Digital Ambassador program. This role required me to learn more about the role of philanthropy in higher education, while developing storytelling and visual media skills that will help me as I further my career post-graduation. I was also fortunate to be in charge of the rebranding of the University of Missouri’s Fraternity & Sorority life page.

As a creative individual, these are some of the aspects that attracted me to get involved in this industry. I’ve had the chance to work in several projects, but am always looking for new opportunities to develop my skillset. Get in touch for additional information about my past work and current projects.
